Press Release: The new Velocite Magnus offers greater stiffness than the acclaimed original Magnus while improving on aesthetics and comfort. After over one year of refinement and development, encompassing extensive live testing and 9 different carbon layup alternatives, the new Velocite Magnus carbon road frameset is ready.
“When we set out to revise the original Magnus, we decided that we must deliver real performance improvements, rather than just aesthetic changes. We also had to ensure that we remained true to the Magnus’ core value of being the stiffest road bike in the market” said Victor Major, CEO of Velocite. The new Magnus delivers exactly the same stiffness numbers as its predecessor while reducing the frame weight by 40g per size.

During the long term live testing of the new Magnus, the riders all reported that the new frame felt stiffer, while improving comfort. This additional stiffness was achieved through use of a new full carbon monocoque Velocite Bora S tapered 1.5” fork which is 20% stiffer than its predecessor while weighing a scant 360g. The comfort improvements are a result of the unique new layup that utilizes up to 13 layers of mixed modulus carbon fiber, including ultra high modulus carbon fiber in critical areas. This high performance layup has excellent high frequency vibration dampening properties. Like all Velocite carbon frames, the new Magnus is made using a proprietary high compression molding monocoque process that results in smooth, imperfection and void free surfaces.
Additional improvements over the original Velocite Magnus include aerodynamically profiled, curved seat stays, and a patented seat post clamping mechanism that allows up to 10Nm of torque to be applied to the bolt without endangering the seat post, or the frame.
Internally, the carbon head set races have been re-profiled to increase compatibility with a wider range of bearings while the new through the head tube cable routing improves overall appearance and ease of use. The full carbon BB30 shell remains unchanged since its introduction with the original Magnus in 2009.
These changes ensure that the Velocite Magnus maintains its leadership and a unique spot in the market place that is currently dominated by ultra light frames.
Size medium frame weighs 1072g and retails for US $2499 including the fork, seat post, seat post clamp, and headset.
The new Magnus will be on display at the Velocite’s booths at the Taipei Cycle Show. Magnus, Helios Aero, Selene, Flux, and the new Velocite Geos road frame will be on show at the booth S40. The Magnus, Geos and the Selene will also be available for test rides at the outdoor demo area I2041.
