Hincapie is just as guilty as Lance- he is just a teeny bit more honest about it.

lol is this a for real? George wants a big pat on the back for his cycling career? Then again it does say “celebrating his retirement” so maybe we should celebrate the fact that this doper is finally out of the sport.

If I was GP I’d lay low for awhile. This event is a pretty meager image rehab. The guy has shown himself to be a cheat & coward at best…WHY would you want to support him?

The fact he allowed his “friends” to weather the rath of LA & the public & wait until he retired & only under penalty of perjury finally tell the truth is despicable. He should just disappear from cycling. He demonstrates some of the worst attributes of human character & sponsoring a charity ride isn’t going to wipe his slate clean.

BTW, its pretty low rent for BR to throw this out as if Georgie is some retired hero. To do so only perpetuates the idea that his behavior (a career based on PEDs & lying) was worthy of admiration. Or do you think it WAS ok?

Buy a 29er – couldn’t disagree with you more, 27.5 will be the wheel size of the future. Oh on the whole Hincapie thing I agree.. he’s a coward and cheat.

Sadly I have to agree. I don’t see why GP is more worthy of our respect. He came clean only when he found a way to do it, avoid prosecution and not kill his career. Not sure that makes him much more admirable. Time to start clean, go TJ.

Let’s face it, the only reason GH admitted to doping was that he was afraid of going to jail for perjury after he got caught. Had he not been caught he NEVER would have admitted to it. A coward who evidently believed that by retiring before the inevitable hammer fell he could wander out the back door without anyone noticing. Anyone paying attention noticed that he retired 2 weeks after the last Greenville Pro Champs and he could’ve gone out with great fanfare, etc…but he put his head down and hoped no one would notice. Thank god he is out of cycling for now and hopefully he has absolutely no contact to the young riders he sponsors on his development team.

Hey BikeRumor…stop cutting and pasting press releases and seriously consider what you are supporting by posting it as a story with no recognition of recent events.

So uninformed. Should he lie under oath? Protect Lance? Gimme a break. The guy IS a gentleman.

Dollars to donuts, BMC don’t want him in the kit or on their bikes. And if so, will be interesting to see how Big George will roll in something Hincapie and if that’ll have U.S. Champ stripes on the sleeve.

Pictures from this will be interesting.

That said, Greenville is a heck of a nice place to ride, especially this time of year in the U.S.

George always seemed to be a real stand-up guy, and LA’s go-to first Lieutenant.

Now we know he’s as cowardly and lame as the rest of the tattlers.

Is the USADA going to bury all the other cheaters? Or do they get a pass because Lance was mean to them & paid them all his winnings for 7 years.
Wait… what?

The slippery slope of honor & (dis)respect just got a bunch owl-snot spewed on it.

Heads up, George.

You clearly don’t understand what it means to be a gentleman, or informed. A true gentleman would have spoken prior to being forced to do so.

You know, big george cheated and kept quite like many others. That said, GH isn’t the only guy that is going to be there. Last I read something about Cadel Evans, Tejay van Garderen, and some others who stuck out a bit less were going to be there as well. Plus it’s kinda an awesome route.
