Not they need the protection, but if you wanted to prevent crud from getting stuck in the nooks created by the Watteam Powerbeat Power meter. As a stick-on strain gauge, it adds a bit of surface area to your otherwise smooth crank arms. These new covers smooth things over and keep everything leaner and cleaner without affecting their ability to measure and transmit output. Retail is $20 for a pair, available in red, blue, black and teal for Shimano 105, Ultegra and Dura-Ace.

Sorry but we need to see how these would actually look on the powermeter and crank by itself. Why not just spend the extra $40 and get a Ultegra 6800 crank arm from stages which doesn’t look bodged together?
