INTERBIKE 2009 – With the addition of Fox’s new 831 DJ/4X/DS suspension fork, their mountain bike lineup is pretty much complete.

The 32 831 FIT RLC is built extra sturdy to handle the rigors of dirt jumping, 4-cross and dual slalom riding and racing with features like a reinforced, webbed crown and 15mm thru-axle.  The FIT damper valving is tuned specifically for dirt jump and 4X, and it has lockout (with force adjust) and rebound and low-speed compression damping controls.

Travel comes set at 100mm, but it can be easily adjusted to 110 or 120mm with the removal of internal spacers.

The FIT RLC damper provides low-speed compression (large outer ring), lockout (blue lever) and lockout force (black center dial) controls on the top of the fork.  The Lockout Force allows you to control how much of a platform the fork has before initiating movement.

The rebound adjustment is on the bottom of the leg.  The fork’s main compression tuning is preset with internal shims and, for the 831, is set with firmer low- and high-speed compression damping to keep it stable under starting gate sprints and big jump landings.

The backside of the arch has webbed reinforcements to beef up the lowers and reduce flex (it’s hollowed out on their lighter cross country forks).  Other specs include:

  • 1-1/8″ or tapered 1.5″ steerer tube options
  • 3.83lbs (1.74kg) – 1-1/8″ steerer
  • 3.80lbs (1.73kg – tapered steerer
  • Post-style disc brake mounts
  • Air spring
  • Any color you want, as long as it’s black
