Stem caps are a crucial part of your bike. Without them, in most cases you would be forced to ride with a loose headset, or worse – the entire front end would come apart. They also happen to be an easy way to personalize your ride. From Niner’s YAWYD, to countless other carbon, anodized, or painted caps there seem to be limitless options.

Now, stem caps are starting to be used for the greater good. Following in the footsteps of NICA, World Bicycle Relief and SRAM are partnering up for a new stem cap that can actually help change the world…

Available in black or red, WBR stem caps will fit almost any bike with an 1 1/8″ upper steerer. Sold by SRAM in a package of 50 to a dealer, that wholesale price is equivalent to “one bike” for the World Bike Relief program. So all the proceeds from the dealer side go directly to World Bicycle relief. After that, the dealer is able to sell the caps and chooses what to do with the proceeds. No matter what happens, money goes to WBR, and you get a sweet little addition to your bike to show your support for WBR programs that help improve peoples’ lives with the power of the bike. Stem caps will be available for $10 at your local dealer.

Clearly and unfortunately, Zach has no idea what a headset pre-load cap does.

Do you need a cap to remind you of your smugness?

I bet these things are USA available only . The usual american way to ease their own sense of guilt for their 8K dollar carbon bikes replaced yearly by the new model. Why buy gallon is cheaper by the gallon Toby Keith says. Uh ! I bet you can buy them at Wholefood !

My shop donates to WBR. Please read their mission and what they do. You don’t have to buy a ‘smug’ cap. Just do something good. Donate.

+1 His comment that a loose top cap could let the “entire front end…..come apart” is nonsense unless you are stupid enough to leave the stem bolts loose.
