Recalls

  • Voluntary recall of all Synchros FL1.0 carbon offset seatposts – Scott has issued a worldwide recall on the carbon seatposts that have been spec’d on several of their 2016 Addict and Solace road bikes sold from June of last year until now, as well as sold aftermarket. The affected 27.2 FL1.0 offset posts have been found to be susceptible to fracture. Head to a Scott dealer for an immediate replacement. Full details on those bikes affected at: Scott-sports.com
  • Rocky Mountain disc brake QRs – Rocky Mountain Bicycles are recalling 17,300 bikes sold in the US and another 61,000 sold in Canada after finding an open quick release lever on the bike’s front wheel hub can come into contact with the front disc brake rotor, causing the front wheel to come to a sudden stop or separate from the bicycle, obviously posing a risk of injury to the rider. We’ve seen the same issue when Trek and 17 other brands announced similar recalls last year. Not really reason to fault one company or other, just check to see if you are affected and get the Quick Release skewers replaced to avoid any trouble. Full details at: CPSC.gov
  • There’s one more: Target is recalling 129,000 bicycle helmets due to a choking hazard. The infant helmets were made by Pacific Cycle and branded Schwinn and used a “no pinch” magnetic buckle. They were sold between January 2014 and April 2016. Full recall details here.
