For 2017, Lake has plus-one’d the digit moniker of many of their shoes to indicate upgrades across the board. Above, what was formerly the 331 is now the 332, and so on.
Compared to the CX/MX 237 shoes we reviewed a couple years ago, the new MX332 (mountain bike shoe) is the next higher model that is slightly lighter, comes with their carbon moldable heel cup, and adds a second set of toe spikes for four total. The new version switches to the higher end L6 BOA closure and a Helcor leather upper, which is both lighter and more durable than regular leather.
The CX332 (road) also gets the dual L6 Boa closure and upgrades to kangaroo leather. $429 for either version.
The CX332 and the CX402 are available through their new custom color program that lets you choose the panel colors and, possibly, the Boa color, too.
CX161 and MX161 (left) get a slightly revised Velcro strap system and comes in at just $120. The CX/MX176 (not shown) adds an extra Velcro strap on the forefoot in addition to the Boa closure for $160. The CX218 (above center and right) does the same but in a higher end shoe for $229.
Not brand new but very cool is the CX301, their lightweight shoe that comes in at 181g for a size 44. Retail is $429.
