With the help of a few household names, HT has continued to expand their range of pedals. The latest to join in on the fun? That would be the new GT1 and GD1. Both are designed as more budget friendly options that will get you a lot of the HT performance, for less of the price.

You’ll also find a DU Bushing/sealed bearing combo, though it does use a larger sealed bearing for increased durability. It borrows the same spring mechanism as th T1 and uses the X1E Cleat with easy release and 4° lateral float. Weight is claimed to be 380g per set, and the price is set at $70.

The GD1 is a flip flop pedal with a platform on one side, and a large clipless pedal on the other. Also cast and running the same DU bushing/bearing system as the GT1, the pedal comes in at 420g with a CNC machined chromoly axle for $70.

DMR

Need more traction for your flats? If you’ve been wanting longer traction pins, DMR hears you. Their new KingPins look absolutely terrifying for your shins and add an extra 1.5mm to their longest pins. Designed to replace the front and rear pins only, they also effectively increase the concavity of the pedal to further cradle your foot. Pedals will ship with the standard pins, but KingPins will be available for £15 for a full set including center pins for two pedals.

I loved the idea of the T1’s, but they were a let down. Wrecked the bushings in less than a season, and they require too much effort for my knees to handle. I think that extra twisting effort is what helped to destroy the bushings. I went back to my well abused Time X-Roc’s and haven’t looked back.
