The Baum Corretto is a stunning example of how far down the rabbit hole of customization you can still go for a one-of-a-kind classic road bike. We usually only get a close look at the custom steel and titanium bikes from Australian bike builder Baum when they turn up at builder shows like NAHBS. But this satin blue & ti Corretto comes to us by way of Baum’s US importer Above Category Cycling, sharing a recent customer’s bike. And it is a fine, super premium example of the modern classic road bike…

The Corretto is Baum’s top of the line classic rim brake road bike, custom fabricated from a fully butted titanium tubeset. Quite rare for any ti producer, Baum actually butts all eight ti frame tubes in-house, tailoring each tube diameter and the individual tube butting specifically to each buyer and their riding characteristic.

That makes for one of the most customizable titanium road bikes we’ve seen from any builder – and goes a long way to explaining the premium cost that comes with it.

The Baum Corretto isn’t cheap, with the frameset (including custom geometry & butting ti frame, premium carbon fork, seatpost, stem & King headset) starting at $9850AUD (~$7000 or 6000€) with a standard paint job and custom fit.

Besides custom fitting the frame to you, the Baum features classic road bike styling with a threaded bottom bracket, straight 1.125″ steerer tube, a traditional seatpost, and room for up to 28mm tires inside of the standard rim brake calipers.

Options for further customization are pretty much up to your imagination (and the contents of your wallet) from simple items like getting your name painted on the top tube like this bike, a fully custom color palette for the paint job like this mix of satin blue, gloss red & black with exposed brushed stays.

Complete bike builds are free rein as well. Above Category went a bit completely wild with this seemingly open-ended budget build, adding a full Dura-Ace R9100/R9150 series Di2 groupset even down to the Dura-Ace power meter cranks to a custom-built wheelset with satin Chris King hubs laced to Alto CC40 carbon clinchers, and brought to a halt with ee brakes.

Just totaling up those obvious upgrades it looks like this complete bike would tip the cash register over at around $22,500AUD (~$15,900/13,900€) so make sure you get your finances (or second mortgage) inline before you drop the $500AUD deposit to secure your spot waiting in Baum’s production schedule.

That is actually the fizik Endurance Classic (2.5mm thick)

It is not a Specialized saddle. It is 3D Bike Fit’s Throne RS. Above Category uses a lot of their saddles.

22500 for a bike and they dont cut the steerer tube properly??xD

I cut my steerers like that. It allows me to go up or down a couple of CM’s if I want (useful for using a CX bike for longer gravel/endurance rides) and helps with re-sale since my normal position is on the low-side for some.

Just make sure your epander does NOT sit above the stem – it will weaken the steerer and void warrenty.
