Commencal rolled out their 2020 e-MTB models, the Meta Power 29 and Meta Power SX. With a new integrated downtube battery, the bikes have a new clean look, while keeping range as long as possible with 504 Wh of capacity. Fork travel ranges from 160 – 180mm, placing the new bikes in the All Mountain or Enduro category – though you can skip the chairlift with the welcomed pedal-assist.

Commencal isn’t new to e-bikes, but they’ve stepped up the integration game, now placing the battery inside the downtube for a much cleaner look. Both the new Meta Power 29 and Meta Power SX (27.5) use the powerful Shimano E8000 system with 504 Wh battery, giving you the freedom to skip the chairlift and pedal up and down the mountain.

Meta Power 29

The Meta Power 29 uses – you guessed it – 29″ wheels for maximum rolling prowess. It uses 160mm front and 150mm rear travel, with Rockshox spec all around.

But does it shred?! You can be the judge, but the video above suggests an ‘affirmative’.

Compared to the previous model, improvements include better cable management, increased rear suspension stiffness, and a dual-density injected plastic battery/motor protector.

The Meta Power 29 is available in four sizes, seen above. All are designed around a 50mm stem length.

Full build specs can be seen above (click to enlarge). The Meta Power 29 will be available in September 2019, for a list price of $6,299 USD.

Meta Power SX

The Meta Power SX is the 27.5″-wheeled cousin of the Meta Power 29, using the same basic chassis layout and Shimano E8000 system. Travel comes in a bit longer, however, at 180mm front, 170mm rear.

More shredding? Yeah – it does that. Commencal goes so far as to call the SX version the ‘fiery POWER’ of the range.

The smaller wheels make the SX version more dynamic (and more fun?), so you become overwhelmed by rad-tastic and shreddy adjectives while riding.

The Meta Power SX comes in four sizes, with geometry and suspension geometry adjusted for the smaller wheels.

Full build specs can be seen above (click to enlarge). The Meta Power SX will be available in September 2019, for a list price of $5,799 USD.
