Just over a year ago, Bontrager introduced a new program for their carbon wheels. Their Carbon Care Wheel Loyalty program covers any damage your wheels may suffer in the first two years, regardless of the cause. Now, Bontrager is adding even more incentive to purchase one of their carbon wheelsets with a lifetime warranty.

Bontrager Carbon wheels gain lifetime warranty along with Carbon Care program

Unlike the Carbon Care Loyalty Program, the Lifetime warranty doesn’t cover everything. Rather, like most warranties, it guarantees against defect which will likely be up to Trek’s discretion if you ever need to use it. That means this warranty won’t cover damage from a crash, or running your bike into your garage. Instead, if something caused your wheel to fail when Trek feels that it shouldn’t have, they’ve got your back.

But when combined with the Carbon Care Loyalty Program that covers any damage to carbon wheels for the original owner for the first two years, and the subsequent discounts for replacement or repair after those two years – you have some impressive coverage for your expensive purchase.

All programs cover all Bontrager carbon wheels, whether purchased aftermarket or those that came stock your new Trek.

Break track wear… LOL! Even my neighbor’s 8 year old can understand what is and what isn’t covered by warranties.

Sven…one of the reasons rim brakes are going away is so they can optimize the shape and materials used in carbon rim construction to build lighter wheels.

Alloycowboy…
The disc rims might be lighter (barely!) but it will be a while until disc calipers, rotors and 6 bolt hubs are as light as rim breaks… I mean ‘brakes’

I’ll stick with my rim brake qr bike. Ive never had a wheel come undone & I dont really ride in the rain!

Alloy cowboy…those lighter wheels result in a heavier frame and groupset. Aero is worse too. MTBbrakes belong on Mtbs.

I have been having trouble with multiple rear wheel rims splitting at the spoke holes, on the drive side spokes (another brand of wheels)
What do people think – would you expect a warranty program to cover an issue like that, even if it occurred after 2 years?

Wouldn’t it make more sense to look up the warranty info for the brand of wheels you have, or contact the shop you got them from? And if you keep breaking the same wheels from the same brand, why in the world do you keep going back to them? Are you a glutton for punishment? Pardon for pointing out the utterly obvious, but duh!
