Pinarello x Hani Rashid limited edition Dogma F-12 for World Bicycle Relief.
Together, Pinarello and Hani Rashid (co-founder of New York City-based architecture firm Asymptote Architecture) have developed a super limited collaboration, with Hani Rashid using the Dogma F12– Pinarello’s flagship road bike – as the canvas.
With his architectural and design practice Asymptote, Hani Rashid has gained worldwide recognition for intelligent, innovative, and visionary projects worldwide. A long-time admirer of the Pinarello brand, Hani Rashid worked with his close friend Fausto Pinarello to reimagine the Dogma F12 aesthetic from the ground up. Pinarello believes that proper design is not just about making the bikes look good, but about combining geometrical, aerodynamic and engineering needs to create winning and exciting objects.
“My creative approach and design work on the special edition NYC F12 celebrates Pinarello’s powerful and impressive racing and cultural pedigree,” says Hani Rashid.
“I had traced and mapped the geometries and key mathematical aspects of the frame’s engineered elegance. Then, together with the immense knowledge and expertise of Pinarello’s in-house paint technicians and graphic designers, we found a unique way to apply some very interesting and varied arrays of vibrating iridescent matte and glossy colors which, as three-dimensional shapes, would work three-dimensionally across the F-12’s architecture, the simple producing these fascinating special edition as pure poetry in motion.”
The color palettes are inspired by and drawn from the Dolomites in Italy. One combination references Italy’s magical part in the summer and fall where deep shadows and glinting gold light washes over the rugged mountains. Simultaneously, the second palette celebrates the winter and spring in these mountains, still capped in the snow with traces of azure water falling across the silver walls of stone.
Two original Hani x Pinarello F12 complete bikes will be raffled off, supporting World Bicycle Relief via eBay Auction. The Auction begins September 28 and runs through Monday, October 5, at 12 pm Pacific.
Winners will also receive a coffee table book detailing the project, with a personal note from Hani Rashid and Fausto Pinarello. Both bicycles will be on display at Strictly Cycling Collective in NYC during the Auction.
GT Fund Raiser for Simon Tabron
In early September, Simon Tabron was struck down with a life-changing health emergency – the industry veteran suffered an extremely rare double-trauma, first a major heart attack and then almost immediately afterward, a major stroke. Something that will affect Simon and his young family’s lives forever, and they need our help.
Simon Tabron is one of the good guys; a multiple world champion and X-games medallist, a showman exuding in personality, talent, and a style that just makes bike riding look like a good time. He also spent a couple of years on the GT UK freestyle team riding in GT Air Shows during the early nineties, demoing BMX to a new crowd, before emigrating to the USA and living his BMX dream.
To help raise some much-needed funds for Simon, his wife, and young kids, there is an exclusive GT Bicycles auction package: the last remaining limited-edition Gary Turner built BMX frame kits. The kit includes a made-in-the-USA 4130 Chromoly frame, forks, bars, along with a signed certificate of authenticity, GT cap, key-ring, and more – in a GT presentation box. The limited run of handmade framesets sold out in hours, and there are two available up for Auction. Also, check out Simons Gofundme.com for more ways to donate directly.
