Truckee, California’s BlackHeart Cycle Co has released its latest titanium offering. The new Gravel Ti takes its DNA from Blackheart’s Road Ti and Gravel AL, blended together to make a modern gravel bike with the timeless aesthetics of titanium.

BlackHeart Bike Co New Gravel Ti curved seat stays

The new Gravel Ti is fabricated using 3/2.5 double-butted titanium tubing. It sports elegantly curved seat stays designed to smooth out the ride. A Kammtail downtube with a tapered, ovalized top tube, and internal routing, makes for a super clean look.

The Gravel Ti is ready for a 1x or 2x drivetrain using electronic drivetrains and 1x only for mechanical drivetrains.

The frame comes with a UDH rear derailleur hanger, a T47 bottom bracket, and a round 31.6mm seat post, to maximize parts options.

The frameset will come with an ENVE In-route Gravel carbon fork, along with an FSA ACR headset. This gives the customer the option to select a standard non-integrated stem and bar combo. Or they can upgrade to the BlackHeart one-piece carbon bar/stem, or ENVE in-route headset and bar/stem combo to match the fork.

Titanium will never rust or corrode making it a “lifetime” frame material. Furthermore, it’s also highly recyclable, if that time ever comes.

According to BlackHeart, these frames are manufactured in a “premiere Asian titanium factory” and carry a lifetime warranty for the original owner against manufacturing defects.

i guess its diff when a company goes to china, builds the factory, the molds, etc. and make the bike there, vs when one buys frames for 700 and resells them for 3k though.

with that said i dont know who makes this vendors frames. i couldnt see it on their website, but since they dont indicate its welded in the US i guess its not.

So what? Does that say anything about quality? No.

He didn’t question quality. Just source (and we don’t know where it’s made but when a brand doesn’t talk abut that in any detail you can take a guess). It might say something about the $3300 price from a direct sales brand when a Ti frame from a maker in China is about $500. Might say something about the frequency of quality control whewn made overseas.

“Titanium will never rust or corrode making it a “lifetime” frame material.”

That old marketing line. My 3 Ti frames (since 2009) all cracked before any of my steel frames from that same era to now showed any problems with rust. The steel bikes are stll going well. Wet climate here too.

Stating it wont rust or corrode is accurate, if welded correctly. “Lifetime” frame material? YMMV. My 2 Ti frames (since 2000), are doing just fine. Wet climate here, too.

Ti frames for not have some magical ride quality. If you rode one blindfolded you would not be able to tell the difference between the typical ti frame and the typical steel frame, etc….Wheel and tire choice and set up have exponentially more impact on how a bike rides versus the frame. Almost all the claims about ti bikes are placebo effect or just regurgitation of the same marketing claims over and over.
