Regardless of tire size, tan sidewalls are in. Like most fashion trends, it may not last, but that hasn’t stopped Maxxis from adding a number of new skin / tan / brown (or whatever you want to call it) options to the line up.

Maxxis adds more skinwall, tubeless DH, 29" DH, and 2.6" Wide Trail for 27.5 and 29" wheels Maxxis adds more skinwall, tubeless DH, 29" DH, and 2.6" Wide Trail for 27.5 and 29" wheels

In addition to the Rekon + shown above, on the gravel/all road side the Rambler And the Re-Fuse get tan versions of their own, both in 700c x 40mm tires with Tubeless Ready casings.

Maxxis is also rolling with a big selection of 27.5 x 2.6″ Wide Trail tires. Given the WT designation, these tires are meant for a 30-35mm inner rim width and will be offered in the Ardent Race, Forecaster, and the Minnion DHF and DHR II.

For their first tire in 29 x 2.6″ WT, Maxxis is going with their trusty Rekon in a 3C, Max Terra, EXO, TR version. While not 2.6″, Maxxis says that the High Roller II and Aggressor will be offered in 29 x 2.5″ Wide Trail version for now as well.

Early converts to 29″ DH tires will be able to choose from the Minnion DHF, DHR II, and Shorty, all in a 29 x 2.5″ WT tire that is also Tubeless Ready. The Tubeless ready part is new for Maxxis – a lot of people have run their tires tubeless on DH bikes, but they weren’t officially tubeless rated. The new TR DH tires will be available in both 27.5″ and 29″ and use a dual ply, 60 TPI casing with a folding bead.

Tubeless Ready also transfers over into the BMX side with the Torch 20 x 1.75″.

Finally, fat bikes will get a new studded option from Maxxis with the Moosetrak. Offered in 26 x 4.8″, the 120 TPI studded tire should be available in January or February, hopefully in time to cope with icy trails.

Why do companies continue to offer studded fat bike tires 3-4 months after you actually need them. they must all operate in the southern hemisphere or something. By Jan or Feb i have already bought studded tires from some other guy and been riding them for 2 months. these moosetrak tires needed to be available last month

For the first time Maxxis talked about Rekon 29×2.6 in March 2017, I wonder when they will release it, since having pre-order for 2018 this position was not.
I’m waiting
