German wheel maker Newmen laces up a new deep but lightweight aero wheelset with carbon spokes. Yet, it’s the 45mm outer width that makes these G.62 gravel wheels truly unique. Optimizing aerodynamics for modern 45mm & 50mm gravel race tires led Newmen to develop one of the widest aero rims we’ve ever seen; but they stuck with a reasonable inner width to keep your tires in the right shape. And in the end, still managed to keep wheelset weights to a totally reasonable 1530g thanks to the latest Vonoa carbon spokes.
All that at a price that might shock as more affordable than you’d think…
Newmen Streem G.62 wide/deep/light aero gravel race wheels
Newmen describes the new Streem G.62 as a “whole new chapter for gravel racing” built on the back of their multiple Grand Tour stage wins & Tour de France Green jersey-winning Streem aero road wheels… and those sneaky hidden valve stems.
“The mission was clear: a gravel wheel designed with uncompromising aerodynamics, perfectly tuned for modern gravel tires.“
But mainstream aero gravel hadn’t gone so wide or deep yet.
So while Newmen calls the new Streem G.62 aero gravel wheelset the “among the lightest in their class”, they are being generous, because there’s little else like these wheels. Sure there are similar depth aero road or even all-road wheels at the same weight or lighter, but nothing close to this width and pricepoint. Newmen are definitely pushing into new ground here.

That alone is a shocking statement! One we can’t wait to try, and verify, for ourselves.

Why is wide gravel aero quite unique?
I know these are clearly meant exclusively to be an aerodynamic gravel race wheelset. But I’m having a hard time not wanting to try these out on a gravel all-rounder, or even a bikepacking bike, too. Usually, we don’t even seriously consider a 45mm or (gasp!) 50mm tire when we are talking aero.
Because simply, if the tire is significantly wider than the rim, airflow breaks away when the wheel spins, and the aerodynamic gains of deeper rims are quickly lost. Making the rim wider, invariably makes it a lot heavier. When Dangerholm showed us his ultra-wide 52mm external/45mm internal Faction prototype gravel wheels last fall, he simply said they were exceptionally heavy. Hunt Wheels has done a lot with their Limitless aero family, adding low-density polymers to the outer edge of the rim to get wide without getting heavy. And their carbon spoke 40 Limitless Gravel Aero wheels are probably the closest analog to these new Streem G.62s. But while the Hunts are quite a bit lighter, they are a lot narrower, shallower, and even more expensive.
Simply put, these new Newmen Streem G.62 wheels are in a class of their own. And we’re looking forward to trying them out soon.
Newmen Streem G.62 – Pricing, options & availability
The new Newmen Streem G.62 wide aero gravel race wheels actually come in two versions, each with either flashy silver decals or more stealthy black on raw carbon graphics. First, there’s the carbon-spoke version selling for 1690€.
Then, we totally glossed over the fact that there’s a more affordable version with 24 traditional aero-bladed stainless steel Sapim CX-Ray spokes, too. At just 1390€, they are a bit more affordable, and only 70g heavier, which frankly isn’t much at all.
The wheels with silver logos are available from Newmen dealers starting today. The black-on-carbon wheels will be available from August 2026.
