I’ve been talking about how gravel bikes are the ideal modern hybrid bikes, and now Obed’s new Borough reminds that wide-tire gravel or all-road bikes can both make a great performance urban commuter. Throwing a flat bar setup onto the carbon Remōt… Ocoee… now Obed Baseline frame & Boundary fork transforms them into an upright runabout, making the Borough a light & quick feeling ride with big tire clearance to blur the lines between your bike to work and off-road weekend adventures.

The new Obed Borough looks like a fun and affordable all-road & gravel mashup. Obed already was a bit sneaky in the fact that their Baseline gravel & Boundary all-road frames shared the same mold – meaning the same relaxed, mixed-surface geometry and big tire clearances. Only the all-road edition got an ever-so-slightly lighter layup, dropped the 3rd cage & toptube bag mounts, and featured a narrower fork without anything cage mounts.

Now the Borough starts with that same lighter all-road version of the frame, but swaps in the wider gravel bike fork, so you end up with a light setup but max tire clearance and plenty of carrying capacity.
The result is a gravel geometry carbon frameset with room for up to 700c x 45mm or 650b x 53mm tires, two bottle cage mounts in the main triangle, 3-pack anything cages mounts on each fork leg, rear rack mounting, and full-coverage fender compatibility.
Pretty much all you could want in a fast city bike, that can still hit dirt & gravel roads.
Obed Borough – Pricing & availability
The resulting Obed Borough is available in two complete build options, both of which come spec’d with 700c wheels & 35mm Panaracer Gravel King semi-slick tires, although you can boost those up to the 43mm version for no extra charge.
The bikes are available in the same five size range (XS-XL) as the Baseline & Boundary, but adds new colors like Shadow Matte & decal options since the bikes are all painted in the US.
The $2350 Obed Borough gets a Shimano 105 1×11 setup (FSA 42T crank & 11-34 cassette) shifted by a MicroShift trigger, with TRP mechanical disc brakes and an FSA alloy low-rise handlebar setup. It comes with Sun Charger Comp alloy wheels, but you can upgrade to Stan’s Grail for an extra $350.
The $3200 Obed Borough Grid upgrades to an Ultegra RX clutched rear derailleur, Shimano trigger shifter & GRX R810 crankset for a 42T x 11-34 1×11, gets MT201 hydraulic disc brakes, and gets the Stan’s Grail MK3 wheels standard.
All Obed bikes are in stock now (that’s not something we hear a lot these days), and are ready to get shipped out to you within a few weeks deepening on your customization choices.
