Purple anodized Paul Components are back – for a limited time

No matter how many times purple anodizing seems to fade away from our collective consciousness, it always comes back. Paul Component Engineering first offered the purple anodized parts back in the 90’s, when it seemed like everyone was doing something in purple. Then there was the throwback launch a few years ago for their PAULcamp event. Now, due to popular demand, it’s back – but don’t think it will be here forever.

As of today, most of the Paul Components are available as a pre-order in electric Purple ano. Anything not listed in the drop down menu on their purple page may also be available in purple by special request. Expected production time is about 4-6 weeks, and pricing is the same as their standard anodized parts.

For a little glimpse into what makes Paul Component Engineering unique, just check out the level of thought and engineering that went into their DIY coolant recycling set up. Machining big blocks of aluminum requires a lot of coolant, and with a system like this it’s hard to recycle or reuse the coolant – which costs money, and in the long run is bad for the environment. So Paul devised a way to collect the coolant from the aluminum chips, separate the coolant from the residual oil, and recycle everything that isn’t reused. Bravo.

Any one else make good purple anodized stems in 140mm -17 for road bikes? Love the Boxcar stems but the size I need is unavailable.

Think you’re onto something…

I thought these were the bee’s knees…back in the aught-aughts. Now when I see them it reminds me of neon leg warmers–sort of cool, but only trendy hipster types who watch Vice and live in SOMA wear them.

To be fair, I (Lindarets) love anodized purple (a guilty pleasure maybe, but a pleasure all the same) and think that Paul’s thru axle QRs are gorgeous.

Another piece of important journalism!
There’s no mention if any of the parts a gravel compatible though.
