We’ve known a Vittoria x Dugast L’Eroica tubular tire was in the works since the Italian tire maker brought the handmade A. Dugast workshop into their fold earlier this spring. Now we have the details and you can order these limited-edition, handmade, numbered, and individually customized Vittoria L’Eroica tubulars made by A. Dugast for your retro or vintage classic bike build…

Limited edition Vittoria L’Eroica handmade tubulars by Dugast

The first thing to know is that just 59 matched pairs of these limited edition cotton tubulars will be available, made entirely by hand in the Dutch workshop of A. Dugast. The next is that these appear to use some aged stock of Vittoria rubber, with the popular but no longer made Corsa CX tread.

If you are dying for some updated classic road tubulars to finish off your retro bike build you should probably act fast, as collectors might snatch up these customizable tires!

The Vittoria made by A. Dugast L’Eroica tubular tires are only available in a single 25mm width, and feature Dugast’s finest, lightweight cotton Flying Doctor casing coated with clear neoprene for weatherproofing. Inside are Dugast’s natural latex innertubes.

On top Dugast has glued Vittoria’s classic Corsa CX tread by hand, featuring a file center section and outward angled ridges on the shoulders for grip over a mix of surfaces.

The tread in the images (and video) we’ve seen all seem to show new old stock rubber with Open Corsa CX labels (one of Vittoria’s last clincher iterations of the tread) suggesting the tread has been aging in a warehouse somewhere, a process rumored for decades to increase puncture resistance and even enhance grip.

Only 118 tires in total are being made (perhaps determined by the number of NOS sets of Corsa CX tread that Vittoria dug up), and they will only be sold in pairs, direct from Vittoria with their own special edition Vittoria x Dugast L’Eroica cotton musette.

For 230€ you get a pair of 25mm Vittoria made by A. Dugast L’Eroica tubular tires. Each matching pair of tires is individually number and they can be customized with the buyer’s initials.

Who is “the bike snob” you mention? Also your comment doesn’t make much sense. The bike snob (Who) reads this and gets his initials on a pair. (???) You hope the bike snob reads and gets his initials (on a pair)?

As good as tubeless tires are, there is something about really good tubular that has to be ridden to understand. I so need these tires.

Why not just buy Dugast tires, or FMB tires?

Why did they put a clincher tread (“open”) on a tubular casing?
