Expanding upon their initial Flluid-1 ebike, FUELL has just announced two new models – The Flluid-2, claiming to offer the world’s longest range, and the Flluid-3. FUELL’s designs are overseen by their CTO Erik Buell, who is a former Harley Davidson engineer and founder of the Buell Motorcycle Company.

With the aim to get people out of cars (and even off motorcycles), FUELL has designed ebikes that provide long ranges and simplicity for the rider. The new Flluid-2 and 3 ebikes are powered by Valeo Cyclee mid-drive units linked to an automatic gearbox with predictive shifting. They also feature low-maintenance Gates belt drive systems.  The Flluid-2 carries two batteries to offer a massive range of up to 225 miles, while the Flluid-3 still provides about half that range with a single battery.

FUELL Flluid-2 and Flluid-3 – Electronics:

The Flluid-2 and 3 are both powered by a Valeo Cyclee mid-drive unit that provides a maximum 750W of power (1000W for EU models) and 130Nm of torque. The motor is connected to an auto-shifting gearbox that offers 7 speeds which provides a 450% gear range. However, if you prefer to shift yourself the auto-shifting function can be turned off.

Both bikes come with a throttle as well as pedal assist… unless you live in Europe, where the ‘throttle’ is limited to 6km/h, only acting as a walk mode for the bike. Elsewhere, throttle mode provides power up to 20mph. To meet varying global regulations, there are four versions for the two bikes; The standard Flluid-2 and Flluid-3 max out at 20mph (USA) or 25km/h (EU), but the Flluid-2S and Flluid-3S models will assist you up to 28mph or 45km/h.

FUELL’s 2.3” display unit is located on top of the stem, and its 3-button controller sits inside the right grip. The display unit shows your speed, distance, battery capacity, assistance level, which gear you’re in, lock status, and more.

The batteries in both bikes are 1000Wh, 51.8V units. FUELL’s 3 amp fast charger tops them up to 80% in 4 hours and fully charges a battery in 6 hours.

A connectivity system hidden inside the frames allows the FUELL Rider app to lock/unlock the bikes, send warnings in case of unusual movements (theft), and track the bikes’ location. The app also provides ride metrics and maintenance alerts.

Electronic accessories that are key to commuters include an integrated Roxim Z4E Pro 900 Lumen headlight, a tail/brake light, plus a horn. Controls for the lights and horn are at the left grip.

Common Features and Components:

The Flluid-2 and 3 both feature aluminum frames, with internal cable routing that has the cables/hoses entering right at the head tube. Both bikes are available in a single frame size suitable for riders 5’1” to 6’5”. Geometry charts were not yet available.

Up front, you get a 120mm travel Suntour XCR34 suspension fork, and the bikes roll on 27.5” wheels with Pirelli Angel GT Urban tires. Power is delivered by a Gates carbon belt drive system, which requires minimal maintenance and no lubrication.

Disc brakes provide all-weather braking power, and other commuter-wise accessories include a kickstand, rearview mirror, front and rear fenders, and rear pannier racks.

FUELL Flluid-2:

The Flluid-2 employs a double-diamond frame design to accommodate batteries in the down and top tubes. With those two batteries, the bike’s maximum range is up to 225 miles! It weighs in at approx. 88lbs – the batteries are not light. The Flluid-2 will normally sell for $5995, but the first 50 units will be offered through IndieGoGo at $3999. As sales targets are met, pricing will change so watch the IndieGogo page for updates. It is available in silver, blue, or red.

FUELL Flluid-3:

With its step-through frame, the Flluid-3 carries one battery which still provides an impressive range of up to 110 miles. It hits the scale at roughly 77lbs. MSRP for the Flluid-3 is $5495, but through IndieGogo the first 50 bikes will sell for just $3699. As above, prices will change as the campaign continues. Color options are the same as the Flluid-2; silver, blue or red.
