Introduced at NAHBS earlier this year as an unnamed, custom-only offering, the new Moots Rogue YBB 27.5″ mountain bike will now come in eight stock sizes.
It uses their YBB softtail design to take the edge off and was just announced on their website. But, we just happened to be at Moots’ Steamboat Springs, CO, headquarters yesterday and learned there’ll also be a Rogue RSL hardtail. Moots’ marketing man Jon Cariveau says it’ll mainly be for the European market. Look for all the official specs on that at Eurobike.

The upcoming Vamoots DR (Disc Road) will be a bit different than the Vamoots RSL. To support the additional stresses on the frame, the DR won’t use the slim 6/4 seatstays of the RSL. Instead, it’ll use a mono-stay top with thicker legs.
They monostay is a lot slimmer than that on the Psychlo-X ‘cross bike, and Cariveau says it’ll handle up to about 29c road tires.
It gets post-mount rear brake mounts, a big upgrade from the IS mount option on the current Psychlo-X. Hopefully this option makes its way across more of the bikes. Replaceable inserts avoid frame damage if one of the mounts gets stripped. Cariveau told us they’re going with the mount on the outside of the frame for now because their Breezer style dropouts make it difficult to run the brake mounts on the chainstay. That’s not to say it won’t ever make it to the inside of the frame, but they’re starting here.
The brake hose guides are enclosed, designed for hydraulic hoses, but you’ll have to disconnect one end of the brakes (and likely bleed) to install.
It’s running a 44mm headtube in anticipation of a tapered fork. Since Moots doesn’t offer their own disc fork (yet), they’ll be spec’ing the ENVE disc brake road fork for complete bikes.
