Paragon Machine Works’ new Syntace X-12 dropouts were on hand in finished form (as well as on a few bikes around the show). Teased last fall and formally announced in February, the options include steel,
alloy and titanium to accommodate whatever metal frame material a custom builder may use.
Closeups here, plus pics of their standard thru axle dropout, new little tools and upcoming fat and plus sized mountain bike chainstay yokes below…
Part of the appeal of the X-12 axle is it’s stealthy looks. Sure you need a tool to get the wheel out, but it’s lighter and better looking…two facts Rockshox and Fox have recently come to appreciate with their own offerings. The X-12 also lets you adjust wheel camber and angle, too, by rotating the female end inside the frame. These show the standard mount derailleur hanger; a direct mount hanger is available, too, shown below:
Fat bike fans and those jumping onto the new 27.5+ / 29+ bandwagon with a custom bike will be happy to know they’re
soon now offering builders these beautiful hollow chainstay yokes with up to 5″ tire clearance.
Rather than a tool that builds in a bottle opener, how ’bout a bottle opener that builds in a couple tools? A pedal wrench and 1/4″ bit socket always come in handy.
