This Week, Waterloo, Wisconsin’s Trek Bicycles brings more artistry to the company’s custom bike world. The legendary brand is broadening the horizons of their Project One Designer Series offerings with brand-new designs.

Project One is Trek’s Custom program where the rider can pick the Trek road or mountain bike, pick from thousands of colors and design schemes, and then lastly, pick your parts by choosing every component yourself, or choose a curated build.

Trek is adding Designer Series Driftless, Formula Fast, and Collector’s Edition to the extensive Project One Design Schemes that already exist.

This paint scheme pays homage to Trek’s home state of Wisconsin’s Driftless region. The Driftless region is an area that has been left untouched by the last Ice Age. It’s said to have deep creeks that cut into ancient bedrock, and steep rugged bluffs that beg to be explored.

The Driftless Designer Series features topographical maps in the graphics that “invite riders to explore the beyond.

This Series can be customized with a palette of cherry-picked colors and is only available on the Trek Checkpoint. Available only with tone on tone colors, the resulting logos are stealthy and reveal a cool topographic touch when viewed up close.

Formula Fast

Trek’s Designer Series Formula Fast pulls inspiration from both Formula One and Rally Car racing. Bold colors and details span the gap between modern and nostalgic.

This series features customizable numbers and icons that give a nod to the most hellish of the Spring Classics, where Formula Fast brought home gold under Elisa Longo Borghini at the 2022 Paris-Roubaix Femmes.

With its rally racing roots, Trek thinks it’s appropriate that this scheme is only available on their on-and-off-road race machine, the Domane+, and Domane+ SLR.

Collector’s Edition

This scheme, The Collector’s Edition, is highlighted here on Trek’s Madone. This paint scheme is “sleek, understated, and classic”. It features a raw carbon seat tube that offers the optical illusion of negative space.

This helps accentuate the “beauty of the Madone’s aerodynamic geometry” and IsoFlow cutout. The Designer Series Collectors Edition is available in nine rich, metallic color combinations that “elevate depth while maintaining a sophisticated, minimalist finish”.

Apparently a lot of folks. The interesting thing about the bike market is that a lot of cyclists have tastes and preferences different than yours! Heck, you could even say that there’s a wide variety of tastes and preferences, and that wide variety is reflected in the products available in the marketplace. Yes, it’s a mind-blowing concept.

Those stealth logos may look cool close up, but from a distance they look a bit like someone has peeled off some brown packing tape that hasn’t come off cleanly.

If I paying big money I want people to know I’m riding such and such a brand. Brandless bike is just as good as open mold frame. I have nothing against those but they are a no name and much cheaper

I’m a die hard front derailleur user, but it’s still odd to see a 1x bike with a non-removable front derailleur mount. Make it bolt on!
