Shimano just introduced two all-new groups with Ultegra & Dura-Ace. And in typical Shimano fashion, their tool and accessory brand PRO has just dumped a ton of new products to go along with it.
Smart Bottle Cage
Adding storage to bottle cages is a growing trend, and now PRO is getting in on the action. Because adding things to the bottom of your cage might require repositioning the cage, the position is adjustable, and you can adjust the angle of bottle-pull.
In terms of storage, the cage has room for specific PRO multi-tools behind the bottle , a pump or CO2 cartridge on one side, two tire levers on the other, and a clip on 300ml storage pouch with room for a spare tube underneath. The cage itself weighs in at 80g.
New Multi-Tools
What tools are compatible with the Smart Cage? That would be the new PRO Performance 9-Function, 9-Function Tubeless, 13-Function and 17-Function Mini Tool (PRTL0123, PRTL0130, PRTL0131 and PRTL0132). You’ll have to choose what’s most important as the small tool space means limited options for tools – especially for the Tubelss tool that makes room for a plugger, reamer, and plug instead. The 17-function PRTL0132 is interesting as it looks similar to the Mineral Mini Bar, but with double sided bits.
For more functions, check out the new Team 20-Function (PRTL0134) and 22-Function (PRTL0133) mini tools. Notably, the tools include a 12 speed compatible chain tool for Shimano’s road and mountain groups, an integrated tire lever, and even a CO2 regulator for the 22.
Pro Internal Routing Tool
Shimano Dura-Ace and Ultegra have a new semi-wired design. That means it’s way easier to set up the front of the bike, but you still may need to string some cables through the back half of the bike. To make that easier, PRO has a new Internal Routing Tool (PRTL0150) that is compatible with the new EW-SD300-I Di2 wires as well as the previous EW-SD50 wires. It also has fittings to help route mechanical shift cables and hydraulic brake hoses.
For now, additional details including pricing and availability are limited, so if you want more, check with your local Shimano/PRO dealer.
